Angelo Freites, a former Wendy's franchisee, joins the ranks of Checkers' esteemed franchisees.
There’s a new crop of entrepreneurs joining the Checkers & Rally’s system, and they’re bringing with them a wealth of restaurant and franchise experience from a broad cross-section of successful national brands. Angelo Freites is one of these franchisees.
In 2015, Freites joined the ranks of Checkers’ esteemed franchisees by operating four Checkers locations throughout the Palm Beach, Florida region. But it’s his background that makes his contribution to the iconic restaurant chain truly unique—Freites comes to Checkers with 32 years of experience with different QSR brands. Most recently, he was part of a large Wendy’s franchisee organization, operating locations across several states. Now, Freites plans to open four additional locations by the end of 2016.
“Florida is home to the Checkers & Rally’s headquarters, and we’ve enjoyed great success throughout the state because franchisees such as Angelo Freites have helped build and maintain our reputation for crazy good food and fast and friendly drive thru convenience,” said Jennifer Durham, chief development officer for Checkers & Rally’s Restaurants, Inc. “Angelo brings a wealth of restaurant operations and business experience, and coupled with his excitement for the brand, he’s sure to keep Checkers growing in the Palm Beach area and beyond.”
With countless veteran franchisees like Freites joining the Checkers team, the brand has demonstrated a strong opportunity for experienced operators to diversify their portfolios. Durham believes this has to do with the brand’s five pillars: the brand offers exciting growth potential (Checkers has availability in strong QSR markets across the country); a compelling financial proposition (Checkers boasts a low initial investment with best-in-class returns); a unique franchisee and franchisor alignment (the brand focuses on restaurant profitability); a magnetic culture (Checkers is ranked as the No. 1 multi-unit food brand for franchisee satisfaction); and a strong consumer proposition (Checkers offers bold, flavorful food at an incredible value).
“We have developed a formula for success that is attracting the attention of quick service industry veterans who recognize the unique opportunity to grow with the Checkers brand,” Durham said. “Our franchise opportunity is different because the company is the largest franchisee; we own and operate 40% of our system, which ensures both products and initiatives are thoroughly tested before rollout to the franchise community. This aligns us with our franchisees by putting our focus squarely on restaurant profitability and guest satisfaction, which sets us all up for success.”
That formula is proven to be successful—Checkers signed more than 100 new franchisees in the last three years and opened a record-breaking 37 new restaurants in 2015. Still, the brand continues to search for passionate franchisees who want to expand with the brand. The company continues to attract veteran multi-unit operators from established brands, with new franchisees joining the franchise family in 2015 with previous experience or other operations in Subway, Taco Bell, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Applebee’s, IHOP and Dunkin’ Donuts, to name a few.
With more than 4,000 locations available in existing and new markets across the U.S., plenty of opportunities remain for forward-thinking entrepreneurs to find out what current franchisees already know: Checkers & Rally’s provides expansive growth potential and an unmatched return on investment.
“Making the decision to join Checkers was easy for me, because I love how the brand treats everyone in the system like a member of the family. Plus, with the low cost of entry, high ROI, and great franchisor support team, I know I’m set up for success and able to grow with the brand,” said Freites. “It also helps that I am a huge fan of the ‘Crazy Good Food!’”
