A new Checkers is opening in Northeast Philadelphia, and the company says it will be the first of up to 25 new locations to open in the next five years.
Checkers & Rally’s is headed to North Philadelphia, which begins a 35 store expansion the brand has planned for the Philadelphia market.
"We should open three to five restaurants this year," said John Palumbo, director of franchise development. "That clip, 5 restaurants opening in that area over the next 5 years consecutively, should continue."
The Florida based chain already has 15 locations in the Greater Philadelphia region.
"We're very active right now in that market in a few different ways. With traditional development, free standing, locations near train stations that get a lot of foot traffic and other nontraditional spaces like hospitals and universities," Palumbo said.
