Checkers & Rally's restaurant, a fixture near UF's campus for over 20 years, is getting a makeover. The location is the first in the country to go through a renovation as part of the brand's reimaging.
“What we are trying to do is make the building more contemporary,” said Jennifer Durham, the Checkers chief development officer and senior vice president in an interview with the publication.
The $150,000 project will add LED lighting, a new roof, parking lot repainting, and will eliminate one of the drive-thrus.
The project will take several weeks, but the restaurant will remain open for the majority of that time. Durham, a UF alumna herself, remembers biking to the Checkers for fries while attending school there and is excited to see the restaurant get an update.
